After serving in the United State Army Deacon attended the
University of Texas to study Mathematics. In 1994, while
attending UT, Deacon began his real estate career at Ely
Properties. In 1996, he became the broker for Ely Properties.
In 1997, unsatisfied with the current property tax consultant,
Deacon was asked to handle Ely Properties property management
client’s property tax protests. That year, Deacon was able to
reduce the taxes significantly more than the prior consultants.
Since his
first tax protest Deacon has handled hundreds of individual case
with property values ranging from $10k to over well over $30mm,
each with the same enthusiasm. From single family houses,
warehouses, office buildings, commercial land to high-rise
apartments, Deacon was able to work out a fair value with the
county.
During his
brokerage career Deacon has sold properties from $25k to $19mm.
He has had several hundred agents under his brokerage license
and in 2003 Deacon purchased Ely Properties from Mitch Ely.
Since then he and Mitch have built several houses, duplexes, high-rise condominiums, and developed rural land. He owns a
portfolio of single family, retail and industrial properties. He
is also an expert witness in legal cases involving real estate
and consults lenders on commercial REO properties. |
